I finally finished it! It didn’t take very long to read, but to finally pick up. And this review is going to be an unpopular opinion: I did not like it. I know this is a favourite series for many people and I totally respect that. This book is not for me, and that’s okay. I’ve already decided that I’m going to try the second book in this series and A Court of Mist and Furry because I think the author’s writing isn’t my favourite, but I would like to give another try before I decide to drop both series.
If you haven’t heard yet, this is a book about a 17 year old assassin who was sentenced to a labour, slave mine. After a year being there, a prince shows up and offers a deal she couldn’t refuse (Goodreads).
My rating: 1.5 /5 stars
As I mentioned in my intro the writing, I felt, was not good. Now I usually write in books for something I love and I wrote in this book out of frustration… I didn’t like the plot, the characters or their growth or lack there of. I think the only thing I like was Nehemia as a character, but again no growth. I don’t really have anything nice to say other than that, and this review will turn into a fiery passion of rage if I don’t stop now.
If you liked this book, I would love to hear your thoughts, if you would to kindly leave them in the comments! I would love to chat!
