This Savage Song: Book Review

I have decided to read through all Victoria Schwab’s books! Because of the hype around Vengeful coming out, I love A Darker Shade of Magic, everyone raves about her work, and This Savage Song was only like 3 bucks on Kobo, I thought it was the perfect time to read more of her work. Now I have finished this I’m going to go pick up Vicious!

Back to the book! This Savage Song is about two unliking friends beating the odds in a world where violence creates real monsters that go bump in the night (Goodreads). This was so well written and I enjoyed every part. I’m still getting use to reading on my e-reader that I think that pulled me out of the story when it was really intense sometimes.

My rating: 4.75 out of 5 stars

I just love the way Schwab builds characters and sometimes holds information back to reveal at the right moment creating a book I didn’t want to put down. This world in so intoxicating, so full of opportunities and story. The very concept of violence creating real monsters is terrifying and intriguing. There was some great plot twist that I didn’t expect that were great!

In the e-reader format, it was sometimes hard to tell when we switched POV so I sometimes had to re-start paragraphs when I realized we changed to another character.

The main two characters, I think, made the book special. They had such personality, and such hardship that I had to follow their journey all the way through. I respect that there was no romance, I usually crave romance in every book. Sometimes, I even get upset if I read characters who have chemistry and don’t end up together in some capacity, but not this book. I liked the characters as friends.

I’m very curious to know what will happen in the next, final book especially how this one ended.

As Always, thanks for reading!
