I can’t believe August is over. I know a lot of people are saying that, but it’s true! This month I have read four books in total. I’m at a total of 46 for the year now. For ratings, I gave out 3 four stars and 1 five star. My list will go from what I first read to my most recent. Enjoy!
Happily By Chauncey Rogers
This image was provided to me by Chauncey Rogers.
This was so kindly given to me by the author, and I enjoyed it more than expected! I do, as a general rule, go into books with low expectations, but still excited. The synopsis got me excited, like who doesn’t like a good retelling? I liked that the main character was described as grumpy, which is very different from the original story of Cinderella. I gave this a four star rating, and you can read my full review here.
Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

My favourite parts of this book are the main character Enne, and the tension throughout the book. I thought the magic system with the blood talents, etc. was very cool. For this book, I did a buddy read that worked out to my favourite yet. We were able to connect everyday about the pages we read and we both enjoyed the book. We both didn’t love the ending as much as the rest of the book, which is unfortunate. It was a good book and still would recommend it. I gave it a four star rating as well, and you can read my full review here.
Vicious by v. E. Schwab

Schwab is now one of my favourite authors. I’ve read now three out her books and I can’t say enough nice things about each book. I picked this up because the sequel, Vengeful is coming out September 25th and because I’m extra I preordered a special edition before reading the first book. So now that I’ve read this I’m all set to read the sequel as soon as I get it! Anyway, I loved this book. I was over the moon with this concept of there being no good and evil, just bad choices; where the villain of the story isn’t as obvious as you think. I rated this bad boy a fat, beautiful 5 stars, and you want, my full review is here.
Beneath The Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire
This image is also from my Instagram account!
Now, this is a third book in the Wayward Children series, but is the direct sequel from the first book. The second book was more of a prequel, so it was nice to see what happened to the characters from the first book after it’s events. Beneath the Sugar Sky wasn’t as dark as the other two, but I felt it was a refreshing change. It was a little predictable, but I still enjoyed the book as a whole. McGuire’s writing is so captivating that it’s worth the read. I gave it a four star, and for my full review, click here.
Well, that’s it for now! As always thanks for reading!
